Peking University to open new Oxford campus
FOXCOMBE HALL, BOARS HILL, OXFORD
Having finally made it through a grueling competitive process we are now able to announce our appointment to design a new post-graduate student accommodation facility for Peking University's HSBC Business School in Oxford. The project will also include a lecture hall, teaching spaces and dining/social areas for students.
Peking University is the oldest and most prestigious university in China and this will be their first site in the UK. The Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) was first established in 2002 thanks to an endowment from HSBC Bank and currently has sites in Beijing and Shenzhen.
Foxcombe Hall has been a regional administration centre for the Open University since the 1970's. Peking University has now purchased the site and the business school will inject new life into Foxcombe Hall and facilitate improvements across the whole site. Potentially, the business school will have up to 200 students who will spend a year Oxford and a year in China.
The design and planning process will involve complex negotiations with the local planning authority, Historic England, the Oxford Preservation Trust and local residents.
